TOUR ITINERARY
DAY 1: MARRAKECH → HIGH ATLAS MOUNTAINS → AIT BEN HADDOU → DADES VALLEY
Your 5-day Sahara adventure kicks off with a seamless morning pick-up from your Marrakech accommodation. Leaving the bustling city, the drive takes you up into the majestic High Atlas Mountains, crossing the breathtaking Tizi-N-Tichka pass. Your private driver will pause at several panoramic viewpoints, and you are welcome to request additional stops to take photos at your convenience.
After enjoying lunch in either Ouarzazate or Ait Ben Haddou, the journey proceeds toward the Dades Gorge. Along the way, you will pass through the lush palm groves of Skoura and the fragrant Rose Valley. In Skoura, you have the option to tour the impressive Amridil Kasbah, a beautifully preserved historical fortress. If you are travelling during the spring season, we will make a special stop to admire the blooming roses that blanket the valley.
Upon arriving in the Dades Gorge, you will be amazed by the fascinating rock formations famously known as "monkey fingers" and take in sweeping views of the canyon. The day ends as you check into your hotel for a relaxing dinner and a peaceful overnight stay.
DAY 2: DADES VALLEY → TODRA GORGE → MERZOUGA
Following a tasty breakfast at your Dades hotel, you will head towards Tinghir. Here, you will discover a magnificent palm oasis and ancient kasbahs that showcase a shared history where Berber and Jewish communities once lived side by side. You will then have time to stroll through the Todra Gorge, dwarfed by sheer rock cliffs towering 300 metres above you, before continuing the drive toward the Sahara.
After stopping for a satisfying lunch on the road, you will arrive in Merzouga, where your camels and guide await. Embark on a magical trek across the golden dunes of Erg Chebbi, pausing atop a high ridge to try sandboarding and watch a spectacular desert sunset. As darkness falls, you will arrive at your luxury desert camp. Enjoy a fantastic dinner prepared by the camp staff, followed by an evening of traditional Berber drum music around a roaring campfire under a canopy of stars.
DAY 3: EXPLORATIVE DAY OF THE DESERT
We highly recommend waking up early to witness a tranquil and stunning sunrise over the dunes from your camp. After enjoying breakfast in the desert, you will be picked up in a 4x4 vehicle to begin a full day of Sahara exploration.
The first stop takes you off-road to visit a local nomadic family in their traditional tents. Sharing a cup of mint tea with them offers a fascinating glimpse into how they navigate life in such a harsh, remote environment away from modern civilization.
Next, you will explore a hidden, abandoned village known for its historic galena mines (a mineral used in traditional cosmetics), which you will have the chance to inspect. The route then leads to the village of Khamlia, home to local Gnaoua musicians whose heritage traces back to Sub-Saharan countries like Sudan. After enjoying their rhythmic performance, you will have lunch at a local restaurant.
In the afternoon, if the seasonal lake near Merzouga is holding water, we will stop to view it before dropping you off at a beautiful desert riad for the evening.
DAY 4: MERZOUGA → RISSANI → AGDEZ → OUARZAZATE
Start your day with another glorious desert sunrise, this time viewed from the peaceful terrace of your riad. After breakfast, the journey north begins with a stop in the historic town of Rissani to explore its vibrant, traditional souk.
The drive then continues through the spectacular Draa Valley, making a stop in the town of Agdez to admire the sweeping panoramic views of the lush palm oases. By the afternoon, you will arrive in Ouarzazate, where you will check into your riad for the night.
DAY 5: OUARZAZATE → AIT BEN HADDOU KASBAH → TELOUET KASBAH → MARRAKECH
Your final morning begins with a delicious breakfast at your riad. Ouarzazate, celebrated as the "Hollywood of Africa" and the gateway to the Sahara, is famous for the historic Taourirt Kasbah and the massive Atlas Film Studios which made the region a cinematic hub.
After discovering the charms of Ouarzazate, the route takes you to the iconic Ait Ben Haddou. You will have time to thoroughly explore this ancient kasbah, which has been a protected UNESCO World Heritage site since 1987. Its stunning earthen clay architecture has provided the backdrop for legendary productions like Game of Thrones, The Mummy, and Gladiator.
Leaving Ait Ben Haddou, the drive winds back up into the majestic High Atlas Mountains, featuring a scenic stop to admire the fascinating architecture of the Telouet Kasbah. Your 5-day desert adventure officially concludes with a safe drop-off at your accommodation in Marrakech.
