TOUR ITINERARY

DAY 1: MARRAKECH → HIGH ATLAS MOUNTAINS → AIT BEN HADDOU KASBAH → DADES GORGES

Your 4-day adventure starts with a morning pick-up from your Marrakech accommodation. Leaving the city, you will drive up into the High Atlas Mountains, passing traditional Berber villages and stopping at various panoramic viewpoints to photograph the stunning scenery.

You will arrive at the village of Ait Ben Haddou to explore its ancient, UNESCO-protected kasbah (recognized since 1987). This architectural marvel is famous worldwide as a filming location for blockbuster movies and series like Gladiator, Prince of Persia, O Clone, and Game of Thrones.

After enjoying lunch in the area, the journey continues through Ouarzazate and the fragrant Valley of Roses before arriving at the Dades Gorges. Here, you can admire the fascinating rock formations affectionately known as "monkey toes" before checking into your accommodation for dinner and a restful night.

DAY 2: DADES GORGES → TODRA GORGE → MERZOUGA DESERT

Following a delicious breakfast, you will trace the path of the Todra River, winding past lush palm groves and traditional villages until you reach the Todra Gorge in Tinghir—one of the most dramatic and spectacular slot canyons in the world.

The route then carries you towards the Merzouga desert. Before reaching the dunes, your driver will offer an optional stop at a traditional Berber cooperative. Here, you can try on authentic Berber clothing for free photos and learn about the local culture. You can purchase desert essentials like scarves if you wish, though there is absolutely no pressure to buy anything. If you prefer to skip this stop, simply let your guide know.

Upon arriving in Merzouga, you will embark on a camel trek deep into the dunes to watch a magical Sahara sunset and try your hand at sandboarding. You will then arrive at your luxury desert camp for a fantastic dinner and an unforgettable night under the stars.

DAY 3: FULL DAY TO EXPLORE THE SAHARA DESERT

We highly recommend waking up early to catch a glorious desert sunrise from a nearby dune. After a hearty breakfast at the camp, you will hop into a 4x4 SUV for a full day of Sahara exploration.

Your driver will take you off-road to meet Berber nomads living in traditional tents behind the dunes, giving you a firsthand look at their rich culture and how they survive in such a remote environment. You will also visit the hidden, abandoned mining village of Mefis, listen to rhythmic Gnawa music performed by locals in the village of Khamlia, and visit the seasonal Lake of Birds (if water levels permit).

After a midday lunch break, you will head to a beautiful local riad to check in. The afternoon is yours to relax, swim, or take a leisurely stroll out to the nearby dunes. Dinner is served in the evening, followed by an overnight stay at the riad. (Note: If you prefer, you have the option to spend this second night back at the desert camp).

DAY 4: MERZOUGA → ZIZ VALLEY → IFRANE → FES

After a tasty breakfast at your riad, the final leg of your journey to Fes begins. The drive north features a stunning panoramic stop overlooking the vast, palm-filled Ziz Valley.

You will stop for lunch in the town of Midelt or another convenient spot along the route. As the landscape shifts into the Middle Atlas Mountains, you will pass through dense cedar forests where you may spot wild Barbary macaques in the trees. Following a relaxing coffee break in the alpine town of Ifrane, the drive continues to Fes. Your tour officially concludes with a safe drop-off at your riad or hotel in Fes.
