TOUR ITINERARY
DAY 1: MARRAKECH → HIGH ATLAS MOUNTAINS → SKOURA → DADES GORGES
Your 4-day Sahara adventure begins with a convenient morning pick-up from your Marrakech accommodation. Leaving the city, you will navigate the spectacular High Atlas Mountains via the winding Tizi-N-Tichka pass. Your private driver will stop at various picturesque viewpoints along the route, and you are always welcome to request additional halts for photos.
After enjoying a delightful lunch in either Ait Ben Haddou or Ouarzazate, the journey continues toward the Dades Gorges. The route passes through the captivating palm oasis of Skoura—where you can opt to visit the impressive Amridil Kasbah—and the fragrant Rose Valley. If you are travelling during the spring, we will make a special stop to witness the valley awash in blooming roses.
Upon arriving at the Dades Gorges, you will be amazed by the fascinating rock formations affectionately known as "monkey fingers" and take in sweeping panoramic views of the canyon. You will then check into your hotel for a relaxing dinner and a well-deserved overnight stay.
DAY 2: DADES GORGES → TODRA CANYON → MERZOUGA DESERT
Start your day with a delicious breakfast before embarking on a scenic drive tracing the paths of the Dades and Todra rivers, flanked by lush palm groves and traditional Berber villages. Your first major destination is the Todra Gorge in Tinghir, one of the most spectacular slot canyons in the world, where you can walk beneath towering rock walls.
As the drive continues toward the Merzouga desert, your driver will offer an optional stop at a traditional Berber cooperative. Here, you can dress up in authentic Berber clothing for free photos and browse desert essentials like scarves. There is no obligation to purchase anything; this stop is simply designed to share and celebrate local culture. If you prefer to skip it, just let your guide know.
Upon arriving in Merzouga, you will embark on a camel trek deep into the golden dunes. You will pause to watch a breathtaking Sahara sunset and try sandboarding before reaching your luxury desert camp. Enjoy a fantastic dinner and experience the enchanting magic of the desert under a starlit night sky.
DAY 3: MERZOUGA → RISSANI → AGDEZ → OUARZAZATE
If you wake up early today, you will be rewarded with a spectacular desert sunrise, watching the shifting colours play across the dunes nearest your camp. After enjoying a hearty breakfast, you can choose to return to the town of Merzouga either by camel trek or a comfortable 4x4 vehicle.
Just outside the town lies the village of Khamliya, famous for its rhythmic Gnawa music. You will stop here to immerse yourself in the captivating sounds of this traditional Moroccan musical style. The journey then takes you to Rissani, a historic city that served as an important stop on ancient caravan routes and is the foundation of Morocco's current ruling family. If travelling on a Tuesday, Thursday, or Sunday, you will have the chance to explore the city's vibrant traditional souk.
From Rissani, the route winds through the picturesque Draa Valley. You will stop in Agdez to admire the sweeping, charming sights of the palm oases before continuing to Ouarzazate, where you will arrive in the afternoon and settle into your accommodation for the evening. DAY 4: OUARZAZATE → AIT BEN HADDOU KASBAH → TELOUET KASBAH → MARRAKECH
Your final day begins with a delectable breakfast before setting out to explore Ouarzazate. Known as the "Hollywood of Africa" and the gateway to the Sahara, this city is home to the historic Taourirt Kasbah and the renowned Atlas Studios, the largest film studio on the continent.
After taking in the charms of Ouarzazate, the journey proceeds to the captivating ksar of Ait Ben Haddou. You will have ample time to explore this ancient earthen fortress, which has been a protected UNESCO World Heritage site since 1987. Its striking architecture has provided the backdrop for legendary films and television series, including Gladiator, The Mummy, and Game of Thrones.
Leaving Ait Ben Haddou, the drive winds back up into the majestic High Atlas Mountains, revealing a tapestry of breathtaking vistas and quaint Berber villages dotted along the mountainside. You will make a scenic stop to admire the captivating architecture of the Telouet Kasbah before beginning the final descent. Your 4-day desert adventure concludes with a safe drop-off at your accommodation in Marrakech, leaving you with cherished memories of Morocco's cultural treasures and natural wonders.
